The Crepe Club

The Crepe Club

"Get together with your friends and family and share tasty food together."
— Joe Sandor, December 2012

Joe Sandor said it before any of this existed. Not as a tagline. Not as a pitch. Just as a man finishing up 273 cast iron pans in a blizzard in Northern Wisconsin, writing to the people who believed in him.

He also mentioned the Club by name — a guild, an association of crêpe makers. A place for people who gather around food and make something with their hands.

That idea never went anywhere. Until now.

What the Crepe Club Is

The Crepe Club is the community Joe imagined — built around the Captain Crepe Pan and the simple act of making crêpes for the people you love.

It is not a subscription. It is not a loyalty program. It is a community of makers — home cooks, farmers market vendors, crêpe cart dreamers, and anyone who has ever stood over a hot pan and felt that particular satisfaction of getting the flip just right.

Joe put it best: "It pleases me to know that I made a functional piece of art that encourages social gatherings around food."

That's what the Crepe Club is for.

What Members Get

As a Crepe Club member you'll get access to:

  • Seasonal recipes and crêpe inspiration from the Gotta B Crepes kitchen
  • Care and seasoning guidance in Joe's own tradition — treating the pan like patina work in sculpture
  • Early access to new pan releases and limited editions
  • Community connection with fellow crêpe makers
  • The Captain Crepe Pan origin story — all of it, straight from the source

Joe's Favorites

In his very first Kickstarter update, Joe shared what he made with his family that Labor Day weekend in Wisconsin:

"My favorite is the savory ham, egg and cheese. I discovered that Nutella and Strawberry is a pretty good combination as well."
— Joe Sandor, September 1, 2012

That's where every Crepe Club recipe conversation starts. Ham, egg and cheese. Nutella and strawberry. Simple, real, shared.

The Maker Community Joe Lived In

Joe wasn't building a brand. He was living inside a community of makers and inviting others in.

His friend Alisa Toninato helped him pour his crêpe pan prototype. He helped her pour her iron hearts. His sculptor friend Yong Choi was concepting an illustrated Captain Crepe Pan users manual. Rick at Washburn Iron Works was his foundry partner. Craig helped him grind 273 pans in a freezing garage.

The Crepe Club is that spirit — passed forward.

Join the Club

Every Captain Crepe Pan purchase includes Club membership. If you already have a pan — from Joe's original run or from ours — you're already one of us.

"If you like it, please let anyone know if they'd like to join the club."
— Joe Sandor, March 2013

Consider this your invitation.

Every One Is Different

These are all one of a kind castings — small batch manufacturing. Joe treated the seasoning like patina work in sculpture or like glazing in pottery. Every one is a unique shade of amber to black.

The Surface

Joe designed unique decorative patterns for the underside of each pan. The raised pattern also serves a purpose: it allows the pan to be thinner while distributing heat evenly.
